About This Job

As regulatory and compliance factors become vital to the success of blockchain projects, we are seeking a highly-qualified and experienced U.S. legal practitioner to join our team as the General Counsel. The General Counsel plays an overarching role in ensuring the project’s compliance on all fronts, such as organizations, operations, businesses, and products. The main responsibilities include:

  • Lead the setting up of appropriate organizations.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements such as partnership agreements, non-disclosure agreements, IP transfer agreements, across multiple jurisdictions globally.

  • Lead the drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and signing of investment agreements with investors.

  • Support the product team in understanding and eliminating the legal risks of the products.

  • Diligently review and oversee the compliance of the company’s operations. Provide advice to the company on various legal issues and complexities, ranging from contract law, employee law, tax law, data privacy law, corporate governance, and litigation risks.

  • Proactively research and anticipate potential legal issues that could impact the company, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.

  • Represent the company in legal proceedings, coordinate with external legal counsel when necessary, and manage litigation and dispute resolution processes.

About You

  • A Juris Doctor degree with a strong academic record.

  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house counsel of a tech start-up.

  • 2+ years of relevant legal experience in handling the legal aspects of blockchain projects.

  • Legal drafting and negotiation skills with prior experience negotiating complex commercial agreements.

  • Ability to effectively defend the company’s interests and skills in negotiating favorable terms with external parties.

  • Ability to solve problems efficiently in a business-friendly and creative way.

  • High level of discretion and attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work without close supervision.

  • A global perspective and the ability to work across different time zones.
